Analytics & Reporting - Missing MVP Features

Last Updated: November 26, 2025 Status: 5 MVP features identified, 24-36 days estimated effort

Overview

This document identifies the missing MVP features for the Analytics & Reporting system. While core analytics infrastructure exists with campaign-level metrics and basic reporting, several critical features are needed to provide a complete analytics experience for users.

Current State: 60% complete (Core Analytics in progress) Target: 100% MVP complete by Q4 2025

Priority P0 Features (MVP Blockers)

1. Real-Time Analytics Dashboard

Description: Dedicated analytics dashboard route with comprehensive metrics visualization and cross-campaign comparison

Current Gap: Analytics are embedded in campaign views and admin routes, but no dedicated /dashboard/analytics route exists for centralized analytics access.

User Impact

  • Users must navigate to individual campaigns to view performance

  • No cross-campaign comparison capability

  • No workspace-level aggregation view

  • Difficult to get holistic performance overview

Business Value

  • Single source of truth for all analytics

  • Faster decision-making with centralized data

  • Improved user experience and platform stickiness

  • Expected feature in any email platform

Complexity: Medium (5-7 days)

Acceptance Criteria

  • Create /dashboard/analytics route with overview dashboard

  • Display aggregated metrics across all campaigns (sent, delivered, opened, clicked, bounced)

  • Show workspace-level performance breakdown with drill-down capability

  • Include time-range selector (7d, 30d, 90d, custom date range)

  • Provide drill-down to campaign-level details from dashboard

  • Support data export from dashboard view (CSV, Excel)

  • Implement real-time metric updates (polling or WebSocket)

  • Add loading states and error handling

Dependencies

  • Core analytics API endpoints

  • Chart visualization library (Chart.js/Recharts)

  • OLAP analytics database queries

Related Requirements: Campaign analytics aggregation, workspace-level reporting

2. Deliverability Analytics Deep-Dive

Description: Dedicated deliverability analytics view with inbox placement tracking, bounce analysis, and reputation monitoring

Current Gap: Deliverability metrics exist but lack dedicated UI for deep analysis and provider-specific breakdowns.

User Impact

  • Cannot diagnose deliverability issues effectively

  • No provider-specific inbox placement visibility (Gmail vs Yahoo vs Outlook)

  • Difficult to identify root causes of delivery problems

  • No proactive blacklist monitoring

Business Value

  • Early detection of deliverability problems

  • Provider-specific optimization strategies

  • Reduced bounce rates and improved sender reputation

  • Core differentiator for cold email platform

Complexity: Medium (5-7 days)

Acceptance Criteria

  • Create /dashboard/analytics/deliverability route

  • Show inbox placement rate by email provider (Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, Microsoft, Other)

  • Display bounce rate with hard/soft bounce classification

  • Track sender reputation scores over time (line chart)

  • Show blacklist status with real-time monitoring alerts

  • Provide actionable deliverability recommendations based on metrics

  • Include domain-level and account-level deliverability breakdown

  • Support export of deliverability data

Dependencies

  • Reputation monitoring service integration

  • Blacklist checking API

  • Provider-specific inbox placement tracking

Related Requirements: Deliverability metrics, reputation monitoring, blacklist detection

Priority P1 Features (MVP Important)

3. Engagement Heatmaps

Description: Visual heatmaps showing optimal send times and engagement patterns by day and hour

Current Gap: Timing metrics exist (average time to open/click) but no visual heatmap representation for pattern identification.

User Impact

  • Cannot easily identify best days/times to send emails

  • Manual analysis required to find engagement patterns

  • Missed optimization opportunities

  • No data-driven send time recommendations

Business Value

  • Visual identification of high-engagement time windows

  • Improved open rates through send time optimization

  • Data-driven scheduling decisions

  • Competitive advantage through timing intelligence

Complexity: Medium (4-6 days)

Acceptance Criteria

  • Create engagement heatmap visualization component

  • Show day-of-week × hour-of-day engagement grid (7 days × 24 hours)

  • Color-code cells by engagement level (green = high, yellow = medium, red = low)

  • Support filtering by campaign, workspace, or audience segment

  • Provide “optimal send time” recommendation based on heatmap data

  • Allow export of heatmap data (CSV with day/hour/engagement values)

  • Include timezone adjustment for user’s local time

  • Add tooltip showing exact engagement metrics on hover

Dependencies

  • Historical engagement data (minimum 30 days)

  • Heatmap visualization library

  • Timezone handling

Related Requirements: Engagement tracking, send time optimization

4. Comparative Analytics

Description: Side-by-side campaign comparison and A/B test result analysis

Current Gap: Individual campaign analytics exist but no comparison view for identifying winners or analyzing A/B tests.

User Impact

  • Cannot easily compare campaign performance

  • Manual spreadsheet work required for comparisons

  • Difficult to identify best-performing templates

  • No statistical significance testing for A/B tests

Business Value

  • Identify best-performing campaigns and templates

  • Data-driven optimization decisions

  • Faster A/B test analysis

  • Benchmark against historical performance

Complexity: Medium (5-7 days)

Acceptance Criteria

  • Create /dashboard/analytics/compare route

  • Support selecting 2-5 campaigns for comparison

  • Display side-by-side metrics table with all key metrics

  • Show comparative charts (bar charts, line charts)

  • Highlight statistically significant differences (p-value < 0.05)

  • Support A/B test result analysis with winner declaration

  • Allow export of comparison data (CSV, Excel)

  • Include percentage difference calculations between campaigns

Dependencies

  • Statistical significance calculation library

  • Campaign selection UI component

  • Comparative chart components

Related Requirements: Campaign comparison, A/B testing analysis

5. Alert Configuration UI

Description: User interface for configuring performance alerts and notifications

Current Gap: Alerts mentioned in documentation but no UI for configuration or management.

User Impact

  • Must manually check dashboards for issues

  • Delayed response to performance problems

  • No proactive monitoring

  • Missed critical deliverability issues

Business Value

  • Proactive issue detection and resolution

  • Reduced time to resolution for problems

  • Automated monitoring reduces manual work

  • Prevents deliverability disasters

Complexity: Medium (5-7 days)

Acceptance Criteria

  • Create /dashboard/settings/alerts route for alert configuration

  • Support alert types: deliverability drop, bounce spike, spam complaints, blacklist detection, reputation drop

  • Allow custom threshold configuration (e.g., “Alert if bounce rate > 5%”)

  • Support notification channels: email, SMS (Twilio integration), webhook

  • Provide alert history view with timestamps and resolution tracking

  • Include alert testing functionality (“Send test alert”)

  • Implement alert muting/snoozing capability

  • Add alert priority levels (critical, warning, info)

Dependencies

  • Notification service (email via Loop.so, SMS via Twilio)

  • Webhook delivery system

  • Alert evaluation engine (background job)
